Saturday, November 10, 3:30-4pm

The Thunderstorm Is Slowly Approaching by artist Qiu Zhijie Saturday, November 10, 12- 2 PM in Chinatown at Columbus Park, 3 - 5 PM at Asian Contemporary Art Fair

Beginning in Chinatown at noon, The Thunderstorm Is Slowly Approaching will arrive at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair at 3 pm, taking the traditional Chinese dragon dance as a starting point for investigating the pressures to hide national identity within a 'host' culture. The Thunderstorm is Slowly Approaching includes a ceremonial ten-member dragon dance team wearing a costume made from camouflage.

Co-presented by PERFORMA, Long March Project and Museum of Chinese in the Americas, as part of PERFORMA07, co- produced by Chambers Fine Art.
Curators: Lu Jie and David Ross
Associate Curator: Defne Ayas (PERFORMA)
