The Thunderstorm Is Slowly Approaching by artist Qiu Zhijie
Saturday, November 10, 12- 2 PM in Chinatown at Columbus Park, 3 - 5 PM
at Asian Contemporary Art Fair
Beginning in Chinatown at noon, The Thunderstorm Is Slowly Approaching
will arrive at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair at 3 pm, taking the
traditional Chinese dragon dance as a starting point for investigating
the pressures to hide national identity within a 'host' culture. The
Thunderstorm is Slowly Approaching includes a ceremonial ten-member
dragon dance team wearing a costume made from camouflage.
Co-presented by PERFORMA, Long March Project and Museum of Chinese in
the Americas, as part of PERFORMA07, co- produced by Chambers Fine Art.
