ACAF NY
THE SECOND ANNUAL
ASIAN CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR IN NEW YORK

The second annual Asian Contemporary Art Fair (ACAF NY) returns November 6-10, 2008 to Pier 92 as the only international art fair in New York, dedicated exclusively to Asian contemporary art and artists. The Fair aims to continually rediscover Asia and the Asian contemporary avant-garde of art and culture. ACAF NY will provide special opportunities for discovery and learning and an open dialogue with key figures of the art world. The five-day event will become a point of convergence where the most respected dealers of contemporary Asian art will engage collectors, curators, and the general public alike.

The Fair brings a vibrant international art market attractive to prominent and experienced collectors, while still being accessible to those new to contemporary Asian art. In 2007, ACAF NY was the first international fair to focus exclusively on Asian contemporary art and saw healthy sales of $12 million. An international crowd of over 19,000 art aficionados visited the Fair to see the offerings of 80 exhibitors, many presenting artists never before seen in New York, to explore the provocative special exhibition and to attend lectures by renown scholars. Over 25,000 visitors are expected to attend the five-day event in 2008.

ACAF NY 2008 will continue its mission of bringing together a high-level group of international commercial and non-profit galleries. With a focused exhibitor program, a new special exhibition and an expanded education series, ACAF NY improves upon the idea of an art fair as a hub for cultural, intellectual and economic exchange.

In 2008, the Fair will offer: 70 exhibitors from over 15 countries, 350 international artists, curated special exhibition, cultural and educational programs, expert collecting advice, VIP lounge, visitors lounge café, and international media exposure.

REVIEWS OF ACAF NY ’07:

“Fizzy and entertaining on the surface, it has a disquieting underside” and “sophisticatedly playful” with “wide-ranging ingenuity.”

– Ken Johnson, New York Times

“The Fair has changed the geography of the art world as seen from New York…Even emerging artists displayed an integrity of training and talent that reflected well on how thoroughly the organizers must have searched and selected for this cross cutting representation of Asian art.”

– Shahnaz Habib, C-Arts Magazine

“Dedicated to profiling artists from well-established names…to up-and-coming artists yet to make their mark”

– Agence France-Presse “Just a few years ago, it would have been unthinkable to hold an art fair in New York dedicated exclusively to Asian contemporary art. Now it is not only thinkable – someone has done it.”

– Kate Taylor, NY Sun

Galleries from around the world that exhibit contemporary Asian art are invited to apply.
